Ohw, I love that!at 33 minutes into the podcast.
Why?Ohw, I love that!
Lets start a "Talk crap on Bjorn" thread
Why?
I think he was kidding (?) The whole thing is a little amusing... I hope one day that I can be successful enough that people wonder if I spent $2 million on my garden.
listen to the podcast and it will be clear. Why?
Do you think I didn't listen to it? I have met Bjorn and talked to him one on one a number of years ago while he was working on someone else's tree for the National show. He's a good guy, down to earth, funny, and friendly. I hope his business really thrives, he deserves it in taking a vision and making it real even while government is trying to close down small businesses.listen to the podcast and it will be clear.
I don't blame him. I have lived for years with people on this forum that don't particularly like me, and as much as has been tried I'm still here. I remember one incident about eight years ago when someone on this forum was really outraged at me about some question I asked about the number of trees in a group planting. It turns out he was mad at me because I was friends with Wiill Heath, but you would have thought from the depth of his rage that I had alluded to evidence of his mother handing out favors on a street corner.Well if you listened to it, you heard him say that he might go into comments on him in another podcast if there is more talk about him on the nut.
Tell you what.do not underestimate the power of the internet. we are blessed to be born in an era where you can promote a business over so many social media platforms. This!
Only point is: Bull Shit only goes so far, you can only spread it on a brick where people will quickly slip on it. Bjorn on the other hand is the real deal. Before you sit back and think; "If I only had the start up money I could do this." Without the talent you can have millions to spend but will go nowhere. A number of years ago I knew a couple of brothers who invested a poop load of money on imported trees. In the end it failed. The point being if you do not have the business sence or artistry at Bjorn's level you will fail.Tell you what.do not underestimate the power of the internet. we are blessed to be born in an era where you can promote a business over so many social media platforms.
you can literally make yourself appear much bigger than you are, with a few great shots, good marketing and peeps will buy into it or you can use your platforms to promote yourself, and what you stand for, keep it real and peeps will still support you.
IG, YT, FB are very powerful and useful tools if youre looking to grow a business.
the fact that peeps are assuming Bjorn is worth more than he is means his whole marketing aspect is on point.
food for thought.
Dont hate, create!
I think you imagine that people don't like you Vance. I was scratching my head at your defensive posture and constant self validation, but I think I get you now.I don't blame him. Most of those people are gone but it does not change the fact that it did happen for the reasons I have sighted.I think you imagine that people don't like you Vance. I was scratching my head at your defensive posture and constant self validation, but I think I get you now.
Just relax and enjoy the flow of conversation and sharing of knowledge.
I'd like to officially apologize to Bjorn for this thread. The title of the thread was in poor taste, and should have been something more along the lines of, "how much money would it take to start a professional bonsai garden." I think this is a natural thing to wonder about for those of us who love and dream of bonsai, but I went about it all wrong, and it drew a lot of hateful comments. I defended Bjorn wherever I could, because I know he worked hard for many years and has followed his dream. He is in the top tier of all bonsai professionals, not just in America, but in the world, and also seems like a really nice guy.Check out Bjorn's response to this thread.
Back in the 80s I had a supply sergeant in the army who actually owned a diamond mine in South Africa. He picked it up for a song. Problem was, you couldn't mine it, because you couldn't hire any workers. Bandidos would always come in and kill everyone and take the diamonds. They found a diamond mine on his land.
