I'm a bit perplexed. I think the threads done because it's been addressed by Bjorn and seems like it's reached a natural conclusion/usefulness?

I don't see where I provided an opinion about anything or anyone other than club members who don't want to financially support the growers/artists who freely give their time. Why the hostile response?

Ugh? Really? If you click the BabyBjorn "about us" page, it is a Stockholm based company founded before our bonsai practicing Bjorn Bjornholm was born. Out Bjorn, lives in Tennessee. I do believe the baby company has nothing to do with the Bonsai Bjorn. Unless you have heard him say otherwise.

Bjorn is a common first name in Sweden as is Bjornholm.

It is all about gross sales versus gross expenses. If your gross expenses per year are hypothetically $200,000 per year, one could make their "profit" with by selling one $400,000 tree per year assuming 50% net on the tree. Or you could make your profit by selling 20,000 trees at $20 assuming a 50% net on each tree. So a net of $10 per tree, selling 20,000 would give you the $200,000 you need to cover expenses.

So the trick is to come up with a mix of trees at different price points that allow one to reach profitability. Obviously the market for $400,000 trees is very small. Obviously you will work yourself to death selling 20,000 trees at $20 each. The trick is finding the right mix.

I know he has been selling trees at that price. And I have been looking at his blackthorn yamadori, which at the time were beyond what I was willing to pay for trees. And now he has stopped collecting, I guess I will never own one of those insane ones. SIgh.

I got to visit their home nursery at his Dad’s place in Knoxville back before Bjorn opened his big nursery. They already had a lovely set up, with some amazing trees! I wish I had taken more money with me, but I got a couple of cool Junipers in nice big pots..
