Too much sucker?

Dumb question. I just collected this American Hornbeam. Got plenty of good roots. As you see there were no limbs below where i chopped it. I have several Hornbeams and the biggest majority all started as "a stick in a pot" and back-budded very well. This tree does have quite a bit of sucker material. So much so that I wonder,..."Do you think this is too much sucker material that might reduce/limit back-budding along the trunk?"

Strong suckers can reduce chances of back buds on a chopped trunk. I would also chop the suckers, cross fingers and hope you get buds on the trunk.
