Azalea Picture Identification Thread

Color is nuts and has a leaf curled feature that makes it reistant to leaf rolling moths. Not that that is ever needed but that was why I got it, the flowers were a pleasant surprise, hopefully the chair can give some scale to flower size. @Pitoon

'Seiten'

Just one flower on a cutting, as I removed all the buds of the larger plant. This variety has very heavy substance. Almost certainly a triploid, with thick petals.
Similar to 'Satsukibare' but probably better. For me, this 'Seiten' slows colour more easily.
This one may show up in the flower display category in the years to come.

Now that red finger nail satsuki I like!

cheers

Both Reiko and Beniko have way way larger white centers this year than last year.
For last year's picture
Both even have completely pale flowers, where all the red(or violet) is gone. The white center size is quite mysterious.
But so far the interesting thing is that they behaved in parallel.
One theory says more fertilizer -> larger white centers. The other is that the environment matters. With the weather so far, maybe hotter weather -> larger white centers.

Beniko - left
Reiko - right

I also have Senhime and Yuko, so that is almost the full family; violet & white centers (Reiko), red & white centers (Beniko), white & violet (Yuko), white & red (Senhime).
This seems a very good variety. Smallish flowers and better growth than Kozan system, better winter hardiness than Kobai system.

…Interesting to know if they are more pliable than the Koran family, which is notoriously brittle!

'Haru no Sono'

While some late bloomers have flowers with brown spots or they just dry up in the sun, it has been that sunny for days weeks.
'Haru no Sono' is different and absolutely pristine. It does get some shade, but also a lot of direct sunlight.

Not a single bad flower! Amazing.

This Shinsen is the first whip from a plant that was growing out in ground, but pruned back by rabbits every year. I finally dug it and roasted it this year. So it will be a years or two before it’s ready to show. Green blotch, multipatterned flowers in pinks and reds etc.
