I want to show you how I train these pines
In the near future, I will cut off the trunk right above 2 branches ( red line). I will use these branches as trunk and branch. The yellow line is showing the future trunk line . I will mainly use cut and grow technique and only wire as

Under the water through misty system, their young shoots just collapse. It means their branches are so soft and flexible. Based on this characteristics, I can understand why this pine has its own specific shape in nature.
By the way, so far it has been growing very well in my hot and dry area! I really like it.

Their growing behavior is completely different with black pine .
This one has all of its summer shoots facing to sunlight .

Wow. Time is flying! These pines are 3 yo now !
The candles have light yellow color !!!
The shoot is greenish yellow with one needle, but there are bundles at the base of these needles .

I finished pruning,wiring and fertilizing for 37 trees a week ago!

This branch will be trained to the trunk. It is focal point for this tree
as you can see, there are heavy wire marks on the trunk line ! Do I care about it ? Not really! I recognized that Huangshan pine responds well with scar in a good way!
Look at these. These were a bad scar last year, and now, they are almost faint away!
These used to be wounds in the past.
By the way, I love their barks.

These tree are 39 months old now. They are still growing strongly. From the first Spring, they already have 2 growth sprouts!
I took pictures on two of them.
2 sprouts from this growing season . Yellow arrow is pointed to the border
They will be pruned in July .
