There was a paddle in the Principal's office in my grade school. So if you got sent there, look out. Luckily, I was well behaved and never made the trip there.

Public schools were different when I went. The gym teacher used his paddle with relish but by that time I was more savvy. But in private school when I was younger, I had a couple of those old wood yardsticks broken on my but. Teacher was really angry because I laughed when she broke one on me. They called mom in and she went off on them. Then at home she went off on me.
