So I’ve had my snow rose for a couple months now and everytime a new rose blooms they start off large and white but after some time they shrink and the edges turn brownish. Is this normal? Am i doing something to cause this?
Other that my tree seems pretty healthy.

Does anyone else experience the same?

I figured but only lasting 2 weeks?

Look at most plants that flower.
2 weeks seems about the right time for most things I can think of at the moment, some are even less than that

Lilacs
Roses
Azalea
Crepe Myrtle
Apples
Cottoneaster
Rose of Sharon

Other non woody plants
Lily of the valley
Daffodil
lilies
Dandy Lion

None of them last very long, its the bittersweet thing about them, their beauty is fleeting
They put on a show for a short time then fade away.
Their main purpose is to attract a pollinator to spread their pollen around and get pollen delivered from other plants
Doesnt take long to do that most of the time

Look up the classic Japanese cherry blossom festival (Hanami). The festival is timed to correspond to when the cherry trees blossom in Japan, and the dates shift depending on the weather and timing of seasons. The trees blossom for a maximum of two weeks - and often less - sometimes a week or so. It is the fleeting nature of their beauty that makes the cherry blossom festival so special. The entire country could be said to be waiting for the trees to bloom so they can celebrate!

Try a bit of background reading to answer your questions eg. https://www.bonsaiempire.com/tree-species/serissa

Two weeks is quite a long time for flowers to last on a plant. Azalea flowers last less than that. Blossoms on fruit trees as well, including cherry trees.

In Japan, the flowers on cherry trees (sakura) are associated with the Samurai and Bushido The impermanence of their flowers is a reminder of the impermanence of life. The flower is beautiful because it gives up its life in the pursuit of beauty. The beauty is in the fleeting nature of the flower, not the flower itself.

2 weeks is long - most flowers are in the days - the only flowers of mine that really last a long time are my orchids.
