calling my country men, South Africa that is

Ja Milly I'm a sucker for an African style. For me there is nothing like a savannah tree. My first thought is always, can it be styled in a umbrella/pierneef....:D I was lucky enough to get a Spekboom (Portulacaria afra ) from a old man that had it in a pot for more than 15 years he says. Its been standing in the same soil (if you could call it thato_O) out in the sun, wind and winter rain. My immediate thought was...yeah you guessed it ;) UMBRELLA !!!
Hey Fredman. Yeah I have to agree with you. There is something about umbrella / Pierneef Style trees. I love the too.

I have a black monkey thorn that I will re-pot into a very shallow pot in the next year or 2. It is starting to grow into a nice umbrella shape.

The other one is my Wild Olive. Right now it does not have a great style to it but I got a virt from Herman and I definitely believe it is the right way to go.

Well the NZ government sounds awesome. I'm not disagreeing with you SA government is currupt, and it bothers me to no end, I am a white african, this is where I was born and this is where I will die, I cannot even think of living elsewhere. I wouldn't mind travelling a bit though

Yeah its awesome to live in this system. The people seriously respect it and live according to it. Headline news is really a boring affair. They literally have to over react in order to create bad news to balance things out. The things they argue about in parliament is like a soapy. These people have no idea how privileged they are...!!! If the modern SA had a government and general system like this, it would be Etopia...no question about that.
To me SA is still the best country in the world, and it brakes my heart to see it being run down like that. The thing is, you don't realise it, until you leave and live somewhere else for a while. I did not leave there because I wanted to. I met a girl and left. It didn't take long before massive "frustration" built inside, when i realised the potential of that country.
The problem is the ANC will be in government for a long time to come. Its the rural majority that keeps them there, and gives them the 2/3 majority and therefor the power to do whatever they want.

I'm not trying to polish this place, and brake down that one...I'm just so very sad for my homeland and its people !!!

My apologies. I'm glad to hear that. I hope you are right that they loose it mate. How is the DA coming on?

Did you nick or file a tiny portion of the seeds and then soak them for a day or two? As long as the seeds are viable you ought to get nearly 100% sprouting success.

Yes Nebari I did that. Suppose the Erythrina seeds were a bit on the old side. The other varieties all germinated well.

My little baby Coral tree. It made it through the winter. I kept it on the dry side and put its pot into another so the perched water table don't rot the little roots down there... Its not even a year old and it really rocketing on... Am I correct that they tolerate root pruning well?

Most Saffa's are crazy.... LOL

Missed you too Sorce especially your humour.

Thanks for the compliment. Yeah working on the trees. The Coral and the Black Monkey thorn that I posted are being displayed tomorrow for the World Bonsai Friendship Federation. They are in the country for the African Bonsai Convention at the end of the month. I will be missing the convention as I cannot get away from work but at least I can show off a few of my bonsai.

That olive has enormous potential Dorian. Love the virt... You must keep us updated on it hey?
I most definitely will do. I was planning to take it to my club meeting tomorrow but will not have time. So it will have to wait till next month. I want to take to the club to get some more opinions on the changes that I want to make.
