EXCELLENT taper! But I think I see what you've done to achieve that taper. As I said, I've grown two such bonsai. During the planning of the first one I noticed two VERY strong tap roots growing at about 20 degrees from one another. I tried to split it a bit and spread the angle to give it a pleasing nebari. Alas! It couldn't take the chop and died immediately. The second one I foresaw the problem and trained the roots in a spreading fashion early on, before they became too stout – they don't take very long to do that! So I see (or think I see) that you've raised the tree above the soil, because it looks like the base of your trunk is in fact the two tap roots that the Erythrina are fond of producing. Am I right? This is my Erythrina (Coral Tree) after almost complete defoliation to reduce leaf size. Standing at 14cm.
Excuse the poor picture.

Exhibit some patience, my dear Sorce. The Erythrina is a South Africa tree: the southern hemisphere, you know. It's only just now coming out of winter and showing signs of foliage.Took about, what, 8 pages til a tree!

Okay. First Post on the Nut and right onto the Saffa Thread.

I have a Acacia Karoo ( Literati Style), 2x Wild Pride of India - Galpinia transvaalica, Coral Tree, 4 Black Monkey Thorns ( 2 upright, 1 cascade and 1 forest), Weeping Boer bean, Small Bone Apple (Coddia Rudis), River indigo (Indigofera juncunda), Bonsai Pine Succulent (Crassula Tetragona), Wild Olive and a Coleonema Pink Diamond. I think those are my Indigineous Bonsai or potensai currently.
Feel free to have a look - https://www.facebook.com/KirakuBonsai
If you are talking about the ones that I tried to wire and they kept on breaking off right at the trunk, then yes. It's the Pride of India. It was really strange as I have 2 and the smaller of the 2 did not do that. It wired very easily. The larger of the 2 was a real problem. I only got one branch wired whilst 2 broke off. I will post some pics in the morning when back on my pc.Looking good man, was that one tree that branch's broke when you wired it a pride
Had a feeling you were an expat when I first saw your avatar.
