I did a severe treatment this weekend, and a bare-root repotting. It wilted, but looks like it may be recovering already.

Here is my update. So far the tree is cooperating. I let the branches grow out a few inches and then I cut back to a pair of leaves. Then I get two branches. The apex is being stubborn and not pushing new branches yet this spring. The apex branching out will be key for this tree.

Well, everyone from the December update has made it through the March update. That's great to hear! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's tree in three more months. Next update is due in June. By then we should really start seeing our trees taking shape. Good luck and thanks to all those participating. We started with 18 entries and we're now down to 7, AKA "The Magnificent Seven".

You made it Mike! That's awesome! Looks pretty comfy in there.

I can't wait for these freezing temps to be over. I think a hail mary is needed for this tree. Too many mistakes in the initial design.. We'll see what spring will hold.

@bones101 @thomas22 @Paradox @michaelj @f1pt4 Okay, it's time again for an update and this will be the last update before the final images are due in September. There are just 6 of the original 18 participants remaining but all categories are still represented. You have until June 31st to post a recent image of your tree. It has been a long process but hopefully everyone has learned something along the way (I know I sure have). I'll post mine later this month because quite frankly it looks really bad. I've had very little new growth since I repotted it. It's alive, but not very pretty. Looking forward to the updates!
