What have you bought in a moment of weakness, that you didn't need?

I recall you mentioning this before. I can find you 100 decent ones on a day hike, or helping neighbors clear the ditch line, and it's about that time of year, so just let me know. Might ask for help with shipping is all.
Very kind of you but with my current position I can't keep up with what I have. I may take you up on this, or maybe a trade, in the future.

Me too ..mine was about $100 also and I kept it outside in the winter and the whole time I didn't know if it was dead or alive because it looked the same (This was a couple months into my bonsai journey) ...Finally threw it out in the summer when the look of it didn't change at all and no budding. Even now when think about it I still don't know if it was dead or alive 😂
This parallels my experience except mine was in a cool basement under lights.

All my moments are moments of weakness when it comes to bonsai.
As an example, I am selling a Kaneshin concave cutter to a friend, because I had seen a good one online and purchased it, forgetting that I had already the same tool in my toolbox.
Impulse they call it, old age I call it.

I bought one off eBay and I got a dead plant in a ceramic bowl planted in sand with no drainage hole. Was about $100 bucks. :(

Yep that is about what I got. I planted it in some pumice and appropriate container but I am not hopeful….

I’ve made this same sort of grocery store purchase of florist azaleas in the past. They have a wide variety of beauties, no doubt. For some reason, had trouble keeping them alive in pots. If I ever try it again, they’ll go into the ground in a spot where they can be covered on frosty nights.

In your climate they might be just fine, but not in mine.

Mine is at this stage too. I absolutely love this azalea.
Me too, I'm such a sucker. But I love the ruffled petals and if it's not purple, pink is my second choice!

Oh, I see. Your a warm beer gal. My Swedish relatives love their warm beer. And herring.
Oh no, just extra in the pantry to put in the fridge. And herring is gross, but my dad liked it. Good luck for New Year's Eve or something, he made me try it.

Tiger bark ficus at Home Depot. Sure, it's trained in a totally cliché S-curve, but that can be remedied with a trunk chop. At $25, I couldn't pass it up.

Cheap phone camera, I just get lucky once in awhile.
Nah...you've got a good eye for composition. Composition makes a great photo much more than equipment.

I have a nice "pro-am" camera that I take on vacations. My wife uses her phone. While I can manipulate mine a lot more and occasionally end up with better shots...her's are hands down the better photographs!

First of the season...almost there :D
