Decided to prune and wire my ne BC instead of stuffing it into the Rayner pot I have set aside for it.

It's really coming on strong, and I don't want to lose that momentum... Shallow bin for now to let the roots spread out...😁😁😁

Pics or it didn't happen.

Here's a picture of the English oak forest I recently assembled. I mounded up the soil to cover the nebari until all the trees get established. I'm guessing I'll be able to work on the soil surface by next spring.

Not sure what happened there!!!

Took my favorite person to see some of our favorite trees.

These pics really undersell how crowded it was! I always say I’m unbelievably grateful that I didn’t tour this campus, because out of state tuition would have killed me.

Repotted a few of my ponderosa pine freebies. I used these to run a small experiment last year, putting 3 in colanders and three in bags. I was planning to let it go another year (hence the late repots) but when rearranging my benches, it struck me how much yellower these were than the one in the colanders. So I’m happy enough to declare my little experiment closed to further investigation a bit early.

My very first "gardendori":
- unearthed and potted a 10 year old Acer palmatum Kiyohime ( and potted in a growing basket
- and got the occasion to unearh a 30 year old Quercus Rubur (60 cm/23 inch high - 7cm/3inch foot) with exquisite bark definition
The healthy quercus surprisingly had only very few feather roots (10 some root threads). I hope that this novice bonsai enthousiast did enough to get it through the shock)

Last weekend I moved the arakawa JM airlayers that I bought from @Tidal Bonsai in Sep 24. Didn't do a lot of root work, just loosened them up and removed most of the organic substrate to allow a quick recovery. I also moved the Korean hornbeam that I bought from Brent in Dec 24. I did removed quite a bit of roots as the rootball was very tight.

Yesterday I received 5 (6 actually) large bareroot JMs from Matt O and moved them into pouches. I made one clump and an individual tree with the one that had the most amount of roots. I wrapped the trees in quite a bit of teflon tape than wrapped them with aluminum wire.
