Put just a bit of wire on this tree, but I think I need some guidance from mentors on where to go. And probably wait until it warms up just a bit more for the bigger bends.

Next club meeting is a wiring workshop, so maybe I’ll bring this one and a few of my hemlocks.
Tree has potential, consider reviewing the planting angle and level before settling too much on design, wiring , branch placement and pad development.
I think there is room for improvement in the first two steps and that will impact and change the work after that you are beginning. Just a suggestion to run by those assisting you locally. Here is a similar juniper with a bit different planting angle and form. Also in development at this stage the focus was on branch placement and foliage improvement. Second picture I year later.
Just a thought.
Best regards

Thinking the tree is decidedly too lanky and could benefit from pushing the foliage inwards, looking to improve the taper too. Once this is completed, the best angle will be more evident.

And I am thinking adjusting certain pad shapes and flattening them a tad will nail it as they fill out. I tend to think it is a matter of small adjustments. Perhaps the right side closer to the main group in a bit more angle to the left. Perhaps a more unified look. The larger pad to the left side closer to the apex perhaps a bit flatter! If I squint hard that seems to work for me. Hope that makes sense! I like the airy feel, just would prefer a tighter group. Small change though, matter of small lean, overall flow to apex.

Terrible day, Angus our youngest rescue has ripped open his side this morning on God knows what.
Its the second time he's done such a thing.
This time it city vet prices, looking at $600, might have to sell some of my projects 😔.

The cascading part of this tree has been bugging me because it is very straight and is moving away from the trunkline I want. The branch was previously going up, I split and bent it last year, but could only get it as far down as you see here. This year I split it again and this time hollowed out a bit of the hardwood.

Healed split from last year:

Waiting to see if it will survive before I wire the secondaries for the new angle.
