What’s your latest Bonsai related purchase?

Are you doing this to get the roots to grow out radially? I'm trying to understand what you mean by the bolded text. :)

And please post a pic of the Cork bark oak when you get it. I have a feeling it's awesome.
Yes, two of the seedlings they sent still have the acorn shell stuck (I guess some roots already grew through it), so I plan on moving the seedlings into slightly larger containers with the washer as far down as I can place it, then allow the tree to ground layer on the washer producing better lateral spreading roots. I hope with the vascular growth in the second push now and over the fall/winter period they should be close to be able to get separated in spring.

I found the tree with the least leaves and asked what they could do, I got 75% off this American beech.
I'm sure I could have gotten the same discount on one with a few more leaves but this was the first one that stood out anyway

The fun part was fitting it in my 03 Lincoln without cutting anything off, I'll be air layering next year if it survives winter1000002432.jpg

You don't do stuff I do. You're a collector. Nice trees.
I know bro ...I get bored quick if I dont have nice trees to look at lol. I am slowly learning to up my bonsai skill though, just dont have patience to watch stuff grow from nothing to something you know. I respect what you do bro.

A more energy efficient grow cart. With minor tweaks...
*grids added to trays
*wooden top added for display purposes

I've had the fireplace screen. Keeps fat head Larry from sunning himself and knocking trees over.

With the top added...I'm able to display my Sonny Boggs Dragon water bowl...and frog monk.

I love fat head Larry 😂

I bought a boxwood, after all this boxwood talk the last 2 weeks... I cleaned up the nebari area, I think this may have been 2 trees, but they are fusing together right in the middle. I think with 3-4 years in the grow bed they will be entirely fused.

Roots are growing out of the bottom of the pot already.

I bought some Amazon "special" 2mm aluminum wire, not as good as teh ones sold in the "bonsai rolls" in amazon, slightly more maleable, but does the trick as long as you take that into account. I also bought a 1 kg 6mm wire from Stone Lantern on sale, definitely going to order other sizes before the sale ends.

Bucket tool organizer, tires of unrolling and rolling the tool roll, especially in the ground as I am doing most of the work on the trees in the grow bed.

Going to give this one a try with a small hose, and eventually add it to the drip/sprinkler system, got to design something with some check valves so I can do both zones at the same time.

And lastly, an autographed copy of Post-Dated, since I bought Bonsai Heresy but didn't have this one. They were the last copies that Stone Lantern had at the time.

Looks like fat head Larry had the life I want

What cart is that? Maybe I can use it as a bookshelf when plats aren’t on it >_>

How much was the syphon mixer? I've been looking for one, but somehow no one in a rural county carries such a thing 🙄

I paid $40, but the seller is out of them. Luckily, there is another seller that has them for $35.

If you can wait till they decide to put it back in stock... $30, this is where I was going to buy it originally, but I guess it is a hot item and it is either out of stock or awaiting inventory.

Yeah, seems like a simple thing that'd be all over, hence my confusion that no place in town carries them.

It's on certain things... like the DRAMM 480AL or PL, there was a time that you couldn't find it anywhere, plenty of the big ones and the 170s, but if you were lucky to find a 480 they were at stupid prices. The PL usually went for less than $10, and the AL around $15-20, and they were almost double the price everywhere they were available.

As far as those siphons, there are a lot of plastic ones in the market. But the reviews are not that great. That's why I decided to go ahead and get the brass one, that and the fact that it will probably be exposed to the sun once I place it permanently in the irrigation system.

I've seen those syphons put in the supply lines of swamp coolers to feed in stuff to clean up hard water buildup, so I assumed they'd be available at the hardware store. Nope.

But you're right, somehow the common sense stuff that ought to be hand is always the hardest to find.
