What’s your latest Bonsai related purchase?

Amazing, where did you find something like this?
I custom ordered it on Etsy! You can message me if you’d like and I can refer you to the seller. They are really nice. The ones they have were a little too square for me so I averaged my pot sizes and they made something that I felt would suit my wares better at shows.

Repotted my old neglected P. afra. I bought this as a tiny 2" plant from home depot and grew it as a neglected houseplant for over a decade. Styled it in 2019 when I was depressed. Squirrels absolutely destroyed it when I moved into my new house in 2021. Every straight species P. afra that I have is a cutting from this plant.

One of the rooted cuttings growing near it got mealybugs so I treated them all with an insecticide and then left for work. Well, the sun promptly came out after I left and burned all the leaves. This pot is just a little deeper than the last one so hopefully it can repair more of the squirrel damage which is mostly on the back.

Didn't buy the tree exactly, but I did buy the winning raffle ticket for this shohin JBP. Adam Toth did a talk on shohin at the REBS monthly meeting the other night. He recently returned from a 3-year apprenticeship at Taiga Urushibata's Taisho-en bonsai nursery in Japan. Taiga had apprenticed under Kimura and was Ryan Neil's sempai while he was over there. He has kind of become REBS' sensei after Kathy Shaner's retirement. He's been a great addition to the club. He's super knowledgeable and very talented.

That's Adam on the right with my son, Isaac, and I.

The tree's got quite a way to go, buy its on its way to becoming a nice shohin pine.

Nice score!

I’ve been trying to source material for a multi slab composition project that I want to embark in the near future. The plan is to recreate a scene post-forest fires out West. Lucked out and found the primary tree for the composition this past week from Todd(Schlafer).

That's absolutely delicious! Can't wait to see the composition when together.
