Late Very cold weather incoming be aware!

According to the news this morning, it's the coldest March 4th here since 1980. Currently 7 degrees.

This whole week is going to be well below normal here with temps struggling to get above 20 most days. After that it looks like the switch to a springlike pattern
happens pretty quickly. Gotta get that repotting area cleaned up and prepped, make sure I have all the supplies...busy season is almost here!

I moved a handful to the garage. It’s sitting steady in there around 35 right now. I do have them on thermostat control heat mat set at 37 just in case it drops below freezing in there. This morning it was 16° and my soil temps were 36 degrees. It’s 20 outside right now.

Was 6 last night and 12 scheduled for tonight. It's already wilted all the flowers and foliage in the yard :(

Where do you live? It would be nice if it was in your profile as that can help people respond to your comments and questions.

We had 23 this morning. forecast to be teens tonight and not get above freezing tomorrow.

I've been checking and rechecking the swelling buds on trees for days. I've moved only one inside so far, as those buds are still tight, green, but not open yet. That means they can withstand cold--at least I hope so. Beyond Wednesday things stay above freezing for a long while. That means I'll be repotting like a MoFo for the next week...everything is going to need it at the same time.

We are at freezing this morning. I have ice in various spots. I am glad I lugged all my tropicals in last night. We haven't had freezing temperatures in March for a very long time.

If you have ice then the actual temp must be at least a couple degree lower than 32. We got down to 30 in Katy TX. I have been repotting for the last 3 weekends they are all outside... up to the bonsai gods. Too many to move!

With the stiff lake wind helping the heat transfer, all it takes for freezing where I am is 31 degree F. That 1 degree is enough :)

Woke up to 7 this morning. -4 with wind chill...garage was at 32 and soil temps were at 34...this should be the coldest i believe

Going to be upper 50's on Saturday, then drop back down to 30's.. roller coaster time!

We had unusually warm December and January here this year, feb colder than usual, Not quite as cold as January cold can be most years but still cold and consistently cold. Funny thing is that I generally work outdoors and I was lucky enough to have taken a spill and fractured a bunch of ribs the day before the cold spell started. It has been wonderful, hanging out indoors drinking coffee rather than getting up and out while it’s minus 25 out there. Heading back to work next week and the forecast shows that the day I return will be the first day with a high above freezing of the winter! Ha, sweet timing.

Now I know what it takes to be "lucky enough" to break a bunch of ribs... yikes!! Having cracked a few ribs falling off a roof, I feel your pain... take it easy and get well!

Thanks and nothing to worry about. I’m pretty much all healed up now going into week 5. Heading out to get firewood this afternoon so that’ll be a good test. I also fell on a roof. Not all the way through, caught myself on a rafter, 4 ribs fractured on the front, 2 on the back all on one side. The first week wasn’t fun, since then not so bad.

Oh man. I wish you best healing.

It has only dropped to 27/28 the last 2 nights. When the forecasts first came out last week they were predicting low 20's.

Feels like -1F...and usually we are ten degrees cooler than the weather forecast being lake front. My outdoor sensor is in the tropical area for winter. So...yeah, it's to drop cooler by 10am...then warm up some. I'm so sick of the cold. I went and started my jeep an additional five minutes early to buffer the cold, for when we headed to the bus stop.
