This group seems to be responding quite well, so I'll begin a progression.

I started it in early April, from hedging stock. I found this group of trees quite interesting, with angular movement in the trunks and lots of angular branches and decent node lengths.

I wired all 3 trees together tightly and made some cuts where I'd like more roots, applied root homone. Left quite a bit of root on, from experience Beech dont take aggressive root removal kindly, unlike Hornbeam, so this will be a process.

WOW...that is Very nice Bobby. Timely post for me...thank you.
I had a look at mine yesterday. It can be layered off this coming season.
Some years ago I layered a 3" red beech...to use the top. I couldn't throw away the bottom, so I stuck it in the grow bed. It exploded after with strong shoots....into a beautiful multi trunk, with a think base.

Sounds good buddy, looking forward to following its development:)

Looking really good. Great representation of the trees around you.
Beech are a personal favorite. Some of the best climbing trees.
Cheers mate. Ive taken a few cuttings from it, im going to cover them with a sweat bag shortly, as they seem to be struggling a bit. I could potentially add a couple more trees if it works. Will see

Here's a few shots in full leaf. In the first photo, the left side tree didn't leaf out as strongly as the other two. It should be fine though. Tree has been in full sun the whole time. Leaves are looking lush overall.
