European beech forest issue

I started a European beech forest this spring with seedlings and just noticed 2 trees have issues. One is completely brown leafs so assuming dead and second one has off color leaves. We have had decent rain so possibly overwatering due to that otherwise I have A chopstick to check when to water. Substrate is perlite/coir mix 4:1 ratio.

As with all saplings - they just don't all make it, c'est la vie.

It's hardly ever worthwhile trying to even figure it out - just have another 10 as backups and replace them as they fail.
