2016 US National Bonsai Exhibition

Got one 1000 miles long?

Lol!!!

Plans have changed. Won't be able to bring the Tesla. I'm bringing a whole bunch of trees up for a future workshop, and they just won't fit in the Tesla. So, I'm renting a cargo van instead.

The bad thing is, now I have no easy excuse (i.e. "Not enough room") to prevent me from shopping the vendors!

Kinda disappointing, really. Long distance EV trips are fun!

I WISH I had autopilot! My car is too old to have it. I have driven one that did, and it's totally awesome. At this point in time, it works great on Interstates. Or other limited access roads. You're not supposed to use it where there is cross traffic.

Sweet auto pilot I need that. Sad thing don't think I'ma make it like I planned to much expense on the new house

For all of you Bnutters. When you get to the exhibition and get your passes ask for a sticker to put on your name lanyard (probably an orange dot) to identify you as being from the forum.
Good idea! Are you organizing this effort?

Good idea, but maybe it should be a scarlet dot. You know, to warn others...

Will it help to avoid hitting bears?
Probably not.

Autopilot, in its current release, is designed to be used on limited access, divided highway roads such as Interstates, or highways built in a similiar fashion. Bears are probably not going to using the Interstates very much.

Autopilot does work on other roads, as far as being able to steer, and such, but the driver needs to pay attention and look for stop lights, stop signs, crossing vehicles, pedestrians, bears and butterflies.

One thing it excels at is stop and go traffic. Like you might experience on a daily commute to work. It really takes the stress out of it.

Ok. That's enough about the Tesla in this thread. Either Pm me, or start a new thread elsewhere.

On topic:

I'm starting my search for good moss to dress up the Show trees! Can't believe it's only two weeks away!

Since you have room go ahead and get one for me!

Just oiled up my shohin stand, getting ready for the Show. It took three applications of Olde English dark oil. Really soaked it up.

As I sit here on the back deck (watching the paint dry, lol!), I hear wild turkey gobbling!

I can't believe the Show is in about a week!

Trying not to be jealous, but it's not working...
I so want to go to this event, but the fall season always kicks off and gets in the way of attending. There is always the next one I suppose....
Have a great time everyone who is going, and please if pictures are allowed, it would be nice to see something of the show. Good luck to nutters with trees on display in the show!!!:)

You're allowed to take pictures of your own tree.

Curious about how many of you are going to the banquet?
I figured most people already know people and I wouldnt have anyone I knew to sit with.
I dont like the awkwardness of feeling like a 3rd wheel so I didnt get tickets.

I always felt the same way. I decided I had to bite the bullet and attend this year. If you keep putting it off til the next one, some day there might not be a next one
