Hi all , just noticed on my white pine most of the new tips have turn brown , it’s been repotted this early spring . Gets sun from about 12:pm until sundown, not sure what’s going on but I cut off the dead tips and sprayed with copper fungicide , thinking it might be tip blight also noticed some sap is leaking from the main the man truck

Trunk pitch is where the graft join is at. Was tree bent recently? It appears as damage to the join area🤔. It may also be caused by sideways pull of weight on the cascade. My suggestion is to seal the area well with cut paste to protect and aid healing and it would be good to give support under trunk for a couple of years for wood to grow there and do not allow snow or ice to accumulate on tree this Winter. This could just be the beginning of a graft failure.

Thanks for the replay , Its was bent over 2- years ago, I did use cut paste , but will add more today

How long have you had this tree @steve27 ?
Are these before or after pictures?
Both would help.
I've Had this tree for about 4 years , it was a nursery fine , a couple of years ago my friend and me put a bigger bend in it and it did well was in a pond basket at that point
I repotted it this spring and it looked fine until I notice what you see from the pictures . I will search and see if I have before pictures

Pictures from October 2021 before and after we bent it. I dont have one after we took the wrap off which was a year and a half after we bent it

I advised him to also put Infuse on the tree. Anyone else have any other advice for Steve? Anyone ever seen this on their white pines?

I cut off the dead tips
This
Is what i meant a before and after shot of the dead tips. It appears recently opened needles.
In these pics, are they after? That was my assumption.
The sheaths seem to be dropping on the branches apical tips. I'm still confused as to whether these are before or after you removed the dead tips. If you did it after these pics then you removed good apical shoots.

Can you remove the what appears to be needle sheaths with tweezers?

Reason I asked how long you'd had the tree was if this was a reoccurring anomaly. I have an EWP that looses at least 75% of its needles each Spring for the last 3 years I think. Didn't used to do that. I've had it at least 15 years.
I am now pulling dead needles for the 2nd time since April. Like it's part Larch lol. Looks like its going to die in April then lush by June.

This is the first time the tree has had the needles getting discolored. I mentioned to him the orange was the old sheaths and showed him a picture of my JWP with the same. I think the browning/yellowish needles is a fungal issue from how wet, rainy and humid it's been here this year so far.

Maybe I'm not seeing the major problem? Also with @Japonicus here, and worried that healthy growth may have been mistakenly removed; or do you mean you only cut the needle tips? Obviously there's a small bit of infected needles, but I always remove specific needles, if need be, and treat the tree.

i only cut the tips that were brown, and i have treaded the tree as well , used copper fungicide , and granular as well , and moved it of the back porch that gets strong afternoon sun just for a while
