Before & After Styling: Goyomatsu (Japanese White Pine)

I’d like to share the before and after styling of a Goyomatsu (Japanese White Pine, Myojo cultivar) I recently purchased.

While very well ramified and healthy, trunk has no taper and IMHO has too many branches to see structure and is too traditionally styled to be interesting.
