I am traveling to spend the weekend at John Eads' farm for our growers class. Currently on a food break.
I don't have much to show bonsai related on that front, so instead here is a picture of an owl I carved awhile back that I use as an anxiety relief. I call it my worry owl.

Emergency repot of my ficus Wiiandi cutting and cut back some of the leggy winter growth. Replaced the tiny pot with an Iker pot, giving it more room and hopefully it won't get knocked/fall off

I bought a big tree.
It's got a 5-6" diameter trunk, tiny leaves, and fantastic pink new leaves.
If anyone can suggest what cultivar it might be, thatd be great. I'm going to try and air layer some of the larger branches.

I spent the day at John Eads place studying the growing process and putting it to practice on his stock.
It was a great experience seeing what to do on young stock and stuff further along.

Cleaned and sharpened my tools in preparation for my shift at the Lynden Bonsai Collection. Then I ended up applying fertilizer, and doing soil surfce maintenance not really needing my tools. We are caught up on tree work.
When I water I go over everything once then I do individual trees watering until the water comes out the drainage holes. Then I go through each tree and check for dead/damaged foliage or debris from the nearby trees. I clean up debris or weeds on the soil surface then I thin the moss and scrub it off the bark if it's creeping up.
Then the curator clarified that she wanted me to weed the rocks in the display area. One of the jobs that I don't find all that pleasant, but it has to be done so I did it. The interesting thing about decomposed granite is that it has a high gold content and the stuff we have is really full of gold so you have to wear gloves or your hands will be gilded for a day.

Always amazes me how fast baby birds grow up. The 4 robins outside our front door got huge, I thought they'd pushed the small one out of the nest, but his little head is poking out from under the 2 up front.
