Ah, the fishhook barrelcactus, ferocactus. Nice one!

I tried to get some work in. Only managed to get 2/3s done in 3 sessions.

Is that what it is called? Because I grew it from seeds stolen off a home depot cactus on the shelf... lol.

It's very hot and windy.
Watered once this morning and then let my nephew drown everything for my second round of watering this afternoon. He's 2 years old but watering at the level of a 5 year old.

Then I set up the wifi water controller so I can turn on my sprinkler from inside the house.

Today, finally had a chance to feed the trees for the first time in a few weeks.

Been hectic at the Van Fleets…moved everything out of the first floor on 5/20 into Pods in the driveway…kitchen remodel started on 5/21 along with replacing old tile with hardwood throughout. We lost our beloved Maltese 8 days into construction; he was able to help pick the stain color on his last day, and we traced his paw prints to preserve.

4 days later, we headed to France and Belgium, which was incredible.

My daughter found a Maltese puppy to adopt, and he arrives in a couple weeks. Yesterday, we were able to move everything back in and things are starting to feel familiar again. Found my camera and snapped a few shots.

so sorry for the loss of your pup what a great tribute , good luck with the puppy !

Hacked up my fukien tea. Have it for 3 years. One of the big box stores 50% off of half dead before it's fully dead. It's so strange I can't make up my mind about it. Last summer it was 4' tall. Grew a lot over winter too.
Trunk is not really thickening that much, hut new growth gets coarse very fast.

Went and helped my friend Vince(Satoyama Bonsai) move some trees around, and we made sure they were stable in the pots for the long ride to Colorado. Snapped a couple photos as well. Rediculously thick bark on these 2 trees.
Ponderosa Pine.

Oh, and I picked up another pine, my first nice pinion pine. Needs fertilized heavily, but should backbud everywhere next year if it is anything like the more boring one I have. 20250621_180236.jpg

Watered a lot, recorded the surface temp on my bench at over 160°F.

Picked up trees and sprayed for ants. They're really bad.

Sat in the pool, even though it's my dog's pool

Smashed up some old cinder blocks that were in the backyard since we moved in. They were covered with mortar and much larger than the ones I would use to make a second bench. Makes them easier to throw away without the garbage man leaving me a nasty note.
