IMG20231128181511.jpgWired this mugo today. It was originally wired two years ago in an "octopus style" :), meaning no aesthetic was applied, just branches were directed the way giving them all maximum light.

Before

After cleaning, replacing all threes and fours with twos

Not today but a couple of days ago found out that one black pine seed finally popped up. One of like 50 :-(

Also, wired a 75 cents juniper. That thing was half dead when I got it and since it seemed to have recovered some of its strength I went ahead and proceed to insult it some more.

This Spring I received a pinus Parviflora Atco Goyo.
Just cleaned up the old dead needles, and did a little wiring to let light into lower foliage
that will be used to rebuild with. 1st though I need to replace soil.
Did some virtual pruning below...

The little central shoot I plan to use as the 1st branch.
It will take 5 years just to build that branch to the thickness of the branch it is replacing there on the left.
So, there's a chance I will change my mind, but I doubt it.
The virtual prune in the last picture gives a staggered effect to the trunk line.

First time collecting in the fall. Dug up this Siberian Elm seedling.
I have 1000 more in my yard I can send you 🤣

I'm constantly checking the temps in my shed. First year with this setup and it's an improvement over the cheap greenhouse, but my temps are still dropping down to 28℉. I am going to look at more powerful heaters or some of those large heated mats for melting sidewalk snow. I have an inkbird powerstrip for better temperature control, but finding a heater that works with the strip is a different story.

Finally got my sweetgum clump repotted. Definitely needed a repot. It had been dormant a while but just started pushing new buds (unexpectedly). I had this old white ceramic pot (filled with weeds) so I cleaned it out and put the sweetgum in it. I'll eventually find the perfect pot for it. IMG_20231129_153946050~2.jpg

You may be drawing too power for the Inkbird. When I was researching thermostats four years ago that was what seem3d to be the issue.

We use a very simple set up. Here’s a quick data dump for folks interested.

1. Thermo Cube Model TC-3: Thermostatically Controlled Outlet - On at 35-Degrees/Off at 45-Degrees
https://www.amazon.com/Comfort-Zone-CZ798-Multi-Purpose-Utility/dp/B004VVJANC/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1OTF1S7DL7DMD&keywords=milk+shed+heater&qid=1701295880&sprefix=milk+shed+heate,aps,278&sr=8-4

2. Comfort Zone CZ798 1,500-Watt Milkhouse Style Electric Portable Utility Heater with Adjustable Thermostat, Overheat Protection, and Safety Tip-Over Switch, Grey We have two 750/1500w milkhouse heaters and use both on high 750w so the 1300W likelywill work on your system

For a great Christmas Present under 70.00… Used to monitor remotely - very reliable - saves worry. Can get data from anywhere.

3. Govee WiFi Thermometer Hygrometer, Indoor Smart Humidity Temperature Sensor with App Notification Alert, 2 Years Free Data Storage Export, Remote Monitor for Home Greenhouse Basement Pets

Image of system temperatures - heater/thermostat activitythis past week. Outside temps at night we’re down to 28F. Has been used to 14F last winter.

Finally if the system needs outdoor power strip and GFCI

Outdoor Power Strip Waterproof with 5 Outlet, Garden Weatherproof 1700J Surge Protector, Christmas Multiple Outlet Exterior Socket for Lighting Appliances

TRC Southwire 14650013-6 120-Volt, 15-Amp, 1800-Watts, Single Outlet GFCI Adapter, For Indoor Use With Manual Reset, No Size, Yellow

Cheers
