Helped take big Shishigashira maple out of box and repotted the tree with new front. (Sorry no images yet)

Built the box four years ago out of scrap wood and it is still functioning properly. For scale the drain holes are 1.25” in diameter

Then helped report three mame/shogun Satsuki, Maple and plum.

Cheers

What about sharing to a friend? 😉 Maybe next weekend you can show me a few photos in person.

I don’t know that I’ve seen this one, but will be keeping an eye out for it.

Today I didn’t do any bonsai work! After repotting 10 trees in the week, I needed to rest my chopsticking shoulder. I was however pictured in my teacher’s blog, which should satisfy the tax man.

The chojubai and hinoki that I got had their pots jostled around too much during shipping and are very loose in the soil. That means they need a repot and will be starting a little early this year under lights in the basement.
Repotted the chojubai and made sure to do a four point tie down. Hopeful pot and backup pot were prepped.

Had to go with the backup pot. I'm often a little sad about the state of the roots of material I get from bonsai nurseries. I hope it will be better than garden center plants.

Yep, I noticed the same in the plant I got from IB. Also did the same (just substitute garage for basement) as I already had lights, heat mats and whatnot for some other early risers.

Repotted some trees

Burning Bush. If you haven't tried a Burning Bush. Don't. One flush of growth a year, have to be very careful with wiring and all you really can do to develop it is cut-n-grow.

Someone's Dwarf holly bush I got last year and stuck in a pot (after cleaning up some branches). Roots were a mess. Not sure if I did too much or not enough on the roots but I'll see what happens.

My son gave me this pot and this tree (3 years ago when I first started). I did know how to take care of the roots when I put it in the ground and now the base has probably a fatal flaw. But I'll keep it because it is sentimental. Oh, and it has a second smaller trunk behind the main trunk that the camera didn't pick up.

I repotted my valvanis koto home today. It was seriously pot bound after only one year in its old pot. I decided to give it a little room to stretch her legs a bit.

Not having a garage has been rough but I make due with a shed and a cold basement.
Potted up a leftover juniper cutting from the aeroponic propagator.
