Well I never got around to working on it last fall, or this spring, so it’s basically had 2 full years to grow unchecked, which is not bad considering how hard it’s been pushed the last 15 years. It has gotten strong, and it is definitely ready to be pruned and wired this fall.

That's a testament to the work you have put into it when it's gone through 2 years of unchecked growth and the foliage looks as balanced as if it was worked. There may be more, but I can only spot one strong branch on the middle right side of the foliage...

Thanks, it is pretty balanced, and will probably look pretty sparse by the time I get done pruning and wiring.

Close to candle-cutting time…eager to get this one back into show-shape after a few years off.

And today after some needle-pulling. This winter I’ll add a little wire in a few places and it should continue to tighten up next year.

Did just a little wiring on the pine yesterday. Here is the result after this year…February and December:

And a year later, prepping it for the Spring show just for fun…haven’t decided if I’m going to shorten the 4 candles popping up in the top or not. It is the spring show, and this is what pines look like in the spring. Probably why Kokufu-ten is in February.
