The Shohin Tree Thread

Dug up another one after work. I intentionally squished the little stone between the coils of the trunk earlier last season when the gap was still fairly open and big enough for the stone. It’s now completely lodged in there! Tomorrow I’ll wire up the long shoot to form the rest of the trunk.
Open to ideas of how to wire/style the shoot 👍🏻
The root base below the sphagnum and top layer of soil is 👌🏻
These seedlings have spent only 1 year in the ground and were germinated in spring 2022. There’s a screenshot from an IG story at the bottom from when I was potting them up individually in October 2022.
Anyone who isn’t growing these needs to get on it!

Another Chinese quince dug up and potted up. Very cool base under the top layer of soil. When I planted these in the ground I wrapped the roots up into a tight little coil, which has resulted in a very interesting fat little base!
2 seasons old from seed.

White pine

I’ve had this for a couple years but was mostly letting it grow. I wired it, but it was at a workshop, and Suthin was the one to actually shape it. It taught me a lot - it’s hard to see in the photos, but there are three distinct pads with subtle movement to them - lower left, right, apex - and seeing how he was able to accomplish this at such a small scale and such minimal foliage was eye opening. 2nd gen Yamaaki pot.

For color, I had attempted to wire it last year, but wasn't happy with what I had done and removed the wire shortly after. The above is a year later, so it's a BIT more filled out, but not much. Bigei pot. I will not be repotting this again soon, I just wanted it in something deeper so I changed it this year with minimal root pruning. When I do repot again, I think that root at the front needs to go.

Thought it would be interesting to compare the results between a master and a regular ol' bonsai enthusiast
