@ShadyStump as a teacher, I think it is awesome that you go out of your way to try and encourage your students to do their best and foster their interests. And even though you are going through some tough personal issues, you continue to participate here in a thoughtful manner, and offer advice.

Read a quote once that went something like, "wisdom is often gained through experience, but experience is often a result of a lack of wisdom." I seem to recall there was something similar about building character but can't think of it right now.

Luckily for me, I have done very well. I have the best dad I could have asked for my kids and he is also quite handsome. Will be married for 38 years this July (I was a child bride). But it is still a good picture lol. Keeping with the spirit of the thread @ShadyStump the world needs more teachers like you and @AZbonsai .Carol...

Well, I felt kind of shy and tongue-tied, deciding to join this thread, but I like Carol 83 -- and reading her post just now made me smile. I love that purple is her favorite color too -- couldn't think of a better person to "lose" a purple pot to, if it ever happens!
