Aren't you in Pensylvania? Isn't that the same latitude as Spain and Italy?

Yep. I don't know that the climate is exactly the same though. Even so, I say "this far north" relative to where BRT can grow outside year-round. I know plenty of people are growing them as bonsai even in Canada.
