Glad you didn't play Wiley Coyote with the boulder. At least you got some moisture going into the heat wave.
Me too. Can't find any news on it, but did get a CASS alert and text on the phone about it as well as 2 flash flood warnings in the mid of night.
Tomorrow third day of warm weather. Forecast flopped again for next week. Sigh.

That Saturday weather's gonna be sweet. Nice :) Good bonfire weather.

I will certainly be having a campfire in our new yard.
No rain till between heatwaves.

Humidity. I'm leaking steadily just watering my plants mid day. Calling for three 95° days in a row now. Moved my honoki into part Sun and hemlock into shade while back.

Looking forward to a nice cool weekend. Humidity has been up. "Storm" clouds have been forming nearly every day over the western horizon, but way too early to bring rain. Typically, if I can see them before 1400, they will re-evaporate most of the moisture and maybe provide a meager shade in the afternoon.

I just scanned the west, and all I see are a few thin clouds, not the usual heavy, wet clouds. A few cirrus and cumulus clouds, but nothing that appears rain-bearing. So we might have a shot at precipitation if "real" clouds start forming mid-afternoon.
One of the advantages of living in a region with few trees is that you can observe and predict incoming weather visually. Also, most of the time: "Nothing to see here. It's hot and dry. It's going to be hot and dry."
But the very long spring/summer transition was amazing.
Me in 25 years: "I remember, back in the spring of '25..."

I heard something outside my window, and got out of bed to go chase the deer out of the vegetable garden...
And got wet.😐

First real rain in weeks! 🥰
Quite unexpected, and very welcome.
Had a customer on my route that set his sprinkler on a motion detector to scare the deer off into the neighbors yards lol. It worked.

Did it work for postal workers as well?😅
He must've had it either on photocell or timer.
I have a bathroom under cabinet light on photocell and rotary dimmer but despite being under a skylight it's in a horizontal position and doesn't get enough light to shut off.

This morning we have heavy overcast 😊
I should take advantage and get some thinning and cutbacks done.

I think we may have broken summer. After a horrifically hot and dry June and July (seven weeks straight of record-breaking heat), we started August with ten straight days of rain... and now the forecast has us closing out the month at (or slightly below) average temps. What a relief!

I have moderate to severe burn damage on many trees - though they seem to be shrugging off most of it. Many are pushing another round of growth.
