I loved spring in the other places I've lived. Here? I tolerate it, but not happily. I'm not enjoying watching shingles fly off my roof.

As you can see below, we have at least one more freeze Thursday morning before the heat settles in.

Me either. Wasn't expecting to break a record today.
Now we're in desert climate.
Hope this doesn't precede another drought.
Our humidity was the same today. Windy again, but not as bad as yesterday. Praying for rain for both of us. Our last significant precipitation was November 17, .44". Before that, we got about an inch in the first half of September. YTD: .06".

You do not have bonsai friendly weather.
My home weather station read 9% here close to a river.

I live about a mile and a half from the Pecos River. I know how hard it is to grow trees in pots here. This year my primary focus is finding the right bonsai soil. I don't discount any suggestions from wiser, more experienced BNuts, but it's really easy to overdry the roots with a traditional mix. So I'm thinking a high organic and perlite mix.

Have you considered an auto irrigation system?

Highschool near 80F/over 20C this week, but then lows dipping back near freezing this weekend. I'm getting impatient for outdoor weather.

Got my vegetable garden plot cleaned up today. I think I'm going the no-till route this year, and haven't bothered starting seeds. The past 2 years have just been worse and worse for gardening here, so I have nothing to lose experimenting, and I'm not putting extra effort in. I'm rather annoyed that simple things like a T to split run multiple hoses and watering devices off a single line are not readily available anywhere. That was part of my problem last year, I think, was getting proper and efficient water coverage to combat the heat. It'd be an easy fix if I didn't have to build parts from scratch 4 times at $15+ a piece. 🙄

gonna be an exciting afternoon, also a possibility of tornadoes and the largest hailstones ever seen in this area (potentially 2")

I'm envious. We've been dry for a month at least, and it's getting annoying.
It's not usually wet this time of year around here, so it's really just me complaining about nothing, but I'd still like some moisture now and then.

I remember November 17th. I was digging out a couple elms in the rain. It was the last significant precipitation, .44". Before that was sometime in September, when we got about an inch.

We've finally gotten rid of our drought out here for the time being, and I know the rain is a good thing for the plants and all, but 6 months of grey skies and rain starts to grate on you after a while, sometime in May or around there it usually decides that summer is here and then it might not rain again until later October

Training
Heard on NBC Today show this historic rainfall
this week could bring up to 20 inches storm system total to isolated areas.
15 inches from Louisville KY, SW to Arkansas.

Had tornado warning for our county seat this morning, maybe 20 minute drive from here.
Have to wait till p.m. news to get local gust.
Had pockets of 72mph loacally, but local records are collected from local airports, both 30 min or more drive from me. Fortunately I put half my trees in Winter shelter for the storms.
Only had 2 projects blow over.

"Rain" is about 16 hours ahead of schedule, according to yesterday's forecast. It's actually just of few drops hitting the ground before the wind evaporates them. Enough to really mess up the windshield. Forecast no longer showing freeze, either. Still bringing in my Ports. Would be awesome if we actually get some of this rain.
On an interesting side note, the latest last freeze on record here is May 29, 1918. That cinches it. Global warming is real.
