...... Wouldnt some critter eat an egg? Racoons, rats, dogs, cats, something? ...

Stray dogs & cats are not allowed here and we sent all of our rats to NYC on the Titanic. No raccoons over here. We do have something similar-looking called a mårdhund but they never come into the city.

I used to do that. I also like oysters and clams so what's the difference?

You mean hairy clam or geoduck? You can always remove the beard just like one can remove the beard from a mussel, if you prefer.

Who doesnt enjoy a clam once in a while? Tho the hairy sort taste better, after a good bush whacking! But those geoducks never looked really all that tasty.
I think geoducks are from Washington State or the pacific north west. We southern folks prefer southern clams. Or the latina version...
