I would be shocked if the tree completely dies, should spring back. The fact that parts of the trunk are still white is promising.

There will be dead portions surely but as I understand with that species, in 5 years it will look good again.Terrific news! But I have a feeling the entire tree is probably not going to make a comeback. I suspect portions of it will, but other portions won't. Hope people don't expect it to be the way it was, only with new leaves.
