I think the color contrast between dark green and terra cotta would be cool.

Don't plan to do much if any root work.
I think it could qualify as a slip pot. ???

Any comments?

It's an old one. Yanked out of a friend's yard. 🤔

From the pictures it looks like the terracotta pot is smaller than the current one, is that the case? Because if it's smaller, by default you'll have to do root work to make it fit.

Otherwise, if it's going into the same type of substrate, I don't see a problem with it.

Here is a smaller olive I'm growing out in a Mitunobu Ito pot, not the exact color but may give you an idea of what it looks like

I don't see that as a slip pot. What are each pot's measurements?

I also don't understand taking a bonsai from a bonsai pot...for terracotta. But that clearly is a personal preference.

Adair always stressed not to mess with these roots except during their heavy growing period. That window has closed for me. Mind you I'm a northerner. I've got fall blush hitting my trees. But that's a pretty nice tree... to risk in my opinion. When waiting is wiser. A dead tree in a new pot is never an advantage.

I would estimate the terra cotta is actually larger. Maybe 10-15% larger. ????
Or, maybe even about same size....insides.

The one on left is a plastic one.

I think you guys just wanted me to go back outside for a picture. ;)

(which I should have done earlier but was too lazy)
