I currently have a mugo pine and two black pines the second one I just bought and they all seem to have a touch of needle cast how do you prevent this what can I do. And they are all outside. Being outside seems to have helped but I still see signs of it also on my bald cypress and my giant sequioa any help would be appreciated thanks

It seems like Bonide Infuse granular has helped my JBP with needlecast.
I also sprayed Bonide Infuse Liquid earlier in the year and I've been spraying basically everything with Mancozeb lately.
I also used Daconil in the spring a few times, and will use Copper in winter.

I have been alternating between Bordeaux Mix and Daconil.

Trichoderma viridae is my go to organism.
I treat my trees 3-4 times a year and haven't seen new cases of needlecast.

Copper sulphate is my first line of assault for new trees. After that, I seem to be able to keep it under control with trichoderma alone.

You can get this in normal stores in our whereabouts?

I think needles are most vulnerable to infection when they are emergent/unhardened.
They become infected during the growth phase. Applying the Infuse to the soil as the candles are extending is the way to go. It’s a systemic, and the fungicide is in the vascular system of the tree, and can prevent it from infecting the needles.

copper will kill the fungus on the exterior, but can’t do anything about the fungus inside the needles

Daconil seems to prevent the airborne fungus from entering the growing needles, but doesn’t kill it.

I'm sorry if I have missed something, but what exactly is "the Infuse". A product, brand or a chemical agent?

Copper Sulphate Pentahydrate 21.36%
2 Oz size should do well for most hobbyists.
Claims to also be systemic probably from the addition of one of the ingredients.
Good stuff!!! But would not skip the granules.

@Adair M why are my WP less susceptible to needle cast?
What are they more susceptible to and same treatment proactively as we do for 2 needle pines?

White pines just have a natural resistance.
They can get it, a little, but not like JBP does. I treat them with the Bonide Infuse just like I do with my JBP.

Adair M...can I use the Bonide Infuse on my maples and roses also? How do you know how much to put on? Thanks!

I sprinkle it on the soil. About a tablespoon for the average size bonsai.

I don’t know about roses and maples.

Nope, but since winter is knocking at the door I might have a go at small scale production of spores so that everyone can enjoy it.
Is 2-3 euros per 1.5L of spraying solution too much to ask? That's 12 euros a year for full coverage of 40-100 trees. I'm terrible at these kind of estimates.

No idea. I think if that effectively treats it, it would be worth it

Poor trees.

You might as well go full ham and destroy the entire wordly mycorrhiza network.

Because the trees are planning their defense.

Go trees, Humanicide!
