I was going to say the same thing... I usually don't stop to look at pots like some potheads on BNut... but this really caught my attention.

Hoping that the top will root and make a clump style tree. I wonder if I should take the remaining leaves off? I am letting the humidifier mist off and on, and using a heat mat to stimulate roots.

did this root at the end?

Just wanted to update the thread here with a current picture. This tree has come a very long way, thanks to all who made suggestions here. And just for fun, where the tree started.

Brave! I saw this from the beginning and thought "Needs to be a shorter tree." Sort of joking, I was going to suggest shohin after all the good shohin love going on. Then I see it as it is now. Looks great!

Was certainly a good lesson on taking the step instead of being afraid of doing the work to make the tree better. Once again, I have to thank the people here who pushed me in the right direction!

It was a lovely tree before, but now it looks like the perfect example of an old Olive tree in the wild, great job!you dont often see corky bark like this, even on real old Olive bonsai.

Did the top ever take root? If so I would like to see how that one's doing.

Sadly no, and they are easy to root!
@BobbyLane thanks, actually I thought it was rather awkward in person before, although I never would have taken it down without encouragement back then. Nowadays I have no fear, except when it comes to horticultural concerns!

@maverickheath I can't help but think of our conversation about chopping your elm after reading this.

I feel bad for ever making you feel bad.

I feel good that you are on this right track now!

Anyway, this quoted.....that's how I was trying to get you to work your elm.

I feel you understand this well now, but this is still a great thread to read, to understand how these moves dominate awesomeness!

To your awesomeness my friend!

Thanks Judy!
Love the Olive.
