I was recently gifted 4 young pines but I really don't know much about pines. Three all seem the same - the one on the right in the photo is one of them. The one on the left is different - smaller needles and lighter yellow green color. I assume the one on the right is a black pine. Does anyone know what the one on the left is if it is not a black pine?

Try to get a good, clear close up shot of the terminal buds of each tree. Also a clear shot of the needle fascicles to see how many needles per bundle. These are a bit young but maybe also a closer look at the trunk to see if there's any clues in the bark yet.

Smaller, lighter needles can sometimes be just an indication of reduced nutrition or some other environmental factor.

Here are two closeup shots. This pine has much shorter candles than the other three and is getting larger cones as well. The trunk doesn't really show much since this tree is still pretty young.
