Hello everyone,
I am fascinated by this pine tree near where I live. Zone 8a. Dallas.

Can anyone tell me what sub species it is?

I'd like to add some of them to the collection.

Thanks.

Someone may recognize something unique about that tree's growth habit and bark but I suspect you will need some closer shots of the foliage. Needle arrangement is a key to ID for pines.

Thought someone might ask. Ran again this afternoon to get a close up shot.

Appears to be a 2 needle pine? so that eliminates all the 3 and 5 needle species.
Now all you need is someone who recognizes that bark pattern.

How about a picture of the trunk at 6-10' away?

I'll run by tomorrow and get another pic. Tree is about 5 miles from my home. Sorry.

Also try to get a shot of the pine cones. Immature and mature ones if possible.
