I love Okra flowers. I am always bummed when I miss them since they don't stay open very long.

Utricularia longifolia. Probably the prettiest flower of all the carnivorous plants I have.


The whole plant. Fairly normal leaves and then there are traps in the roots to eat small creatures in the soil.

Tarantula Hawk Wasp, New Mexico state Insect.
Yellow or Green Rabbitbrush is the popular kid when the rain awakens the desert from its slumber. It's pleasant (but not perfumey) fragrance is soft but obvious at the same time, drawing to it insects of all shapes and sizes.Can you find the photo bombers in the shots below?

I'm not very good with identification; this may be Sweet Alyssum, with its gentle honey fragrance, but I'm not certain.
