Flowers 2022

I get that my friend. Landscaping for 40 plus years, the winter was very special for me. It is a time for inner reflection. The dynamics have changed because of taking care of elders and also because of my own needs. And admittedly, I have far too many tropicals and other plants still to protect, but I still welcome winter with open arms.
Today is very special for me as I look outside and see we are experiencing our first killing frost at my house. It is a good thing.
I could never be happy somewhere without real season changes, I think.

I like spring because everything is waking up and bright green and happy. I like summer because I don't have to wear real shoes or socks and my trees are happily outside. Fall just reminds me winter is coming...

I love/need all four seasons for a variety of reasons. Most of which is my sanity. :)

I am so busy during spring, summer and fall that I enjoy the winter time rest and quiet
Winter there are few expectations that don't involve my family, and that's a welcome respite.

?.... lost on me.
The flower that sprouts from the angel's trumpet (of the genus Brugmansia) is a lovely bell shape perfect for a picturesque garden — but the plant has a dark secret. It's poisonous. At best, eating the flower will result in terrifying hallucinations, but at worst, it can leave you dead

Ah, so kinda like detura, also known as loco weed.
Gorgeous if you can get it to grow in your garden (some people say it's impossible to grow on purpose) but eat the seeds and you and your friends wind up driving slow donuts in the parking lot of a federal prison complex at 2am wondering how you're going to escape a 3 acre 2d maze with 2 entrances, and panic and curl into a ball on the floorboards when the guards casually stroll up to knock on the window.
Or, ya know, dead.

Yes, this was in the local news once.

I ran across this in a small nursery in Beaufort SC. View attachment 460583
Fun fact, that plant has become sort of the symbol of the Canary islands although is not native, is used as ornamental also extensively cultivated and the flowers exported to other european countries

Counting down to the first indoor bloom of the season.

This hibiscus only gave me one little peach colored blossom all summer, but now that it's inside it seems to be reawakening, and yellow.
My hibiscus flowers non stop. I stopped posting pics of them since I posted a bunch already. :) I've had 10-12 flowers since I brought it in awhile ago.
