Comparing before and current image reduction of space between the trunks is visible when you mentioned it. Nevertheless, the change on the base and the tunk is significant. Obviously maples can change a lot in a decade. Thanks Maros!
One quick and easy improvement that was made was to rotate the tree counterclockwise changing its front slightly. Originally the two trunks were parallel to the viewer which flattened the image. In rotating the tree, the space between the two trunks was diminished while the smaller trunk pushed farther away from the viewer creating a more dimensional design. I make a point to mention this since in photos this may not be so clear.
It's OK. But I will like it betetr next yearArakawa today after trimming back to one node all the extended spring shoots. You might notice the paper covered wire up top to give some movement to a branch that appeared too straight.

Funny, because I love this tree too, but I would have a hard time keeping that third trunk. Stealing the show to me is a distraction from the overall beautiful composition. That pot slaps. This Arakawa is just so incredible ... with the 3rd trunk stealing the show.
I have seen quite a lot and this one not only being personally a favourite but really contrasts its vitality to its age.
Ever so often Arakawa trees seem geratric ... but not this one.
Oh really, nah, this is so unique, I would really miss it.Funny, because I love this tree too, but I would have a hard time keeping that third trunk. Stealing the show to me is a distraction from the overall beautiful composition. That pot slaps.
