anyone else enjoying the Mirai live stream?

What kind of stuff did he go into on this one? I wasnt able to watch it live and need to wait for the archived video. I'm excited that he has a Larch there.

He started with transplanting, then went into pruning. He finished with some fertilization / soil and just barely touched on disease and pests. He was theming it along the lines of - what you need to be doing with your trees over the next month.

Pruning he went into the difference between final ramification pruning, development pruning, and early / prepare for first wiring pruning. Lot of discussion around timing of pruning and balancing of strength of tree.

The last Tuesday of each month he is presenting from the Bonsai Society of Portland, and discussing what to do with your trees at the current time of year. There were some great explanations last night of why you prune before the leaves emerge from buds, and why to wait until after they harden off before pruning again. The main theme was how to utilize the tree's energy to direct the growth you want. Very good explanations of branch selection while pruning in different stages of a tree's development, and whether you are looking to create length vs. ramification or create girth. I thought it was a wonderful look into why you do what you do or avoid doing at specific times, and felt it would have taken a whole lot of reading on my own to come away with half of the knowledge shared in two hours.

Ready for the natives live series! Game changer.
