anyone else enjoying the Mirai live stream?

I am bouncing between the 2nd tier and 3rd tier.

I am planning to sign up today!

I attended 4 of the test video session and it was extremely interactive, and Ryan team did an excellent job managing questions from the chat area.

Ryan has showman talent when he is in front of the camera.

These two features make tier 3 interesting

  • Impromptu Q&A’s Live: addressing bonsai’s most relevant questions
  • Discounted 1-on-1 consult with Ryan Neil – get answers fast

It looks like starting at tier 2 you will get access to watch archived lectures and demos. That's what seems most intriguing to me since my schedule won't always let me be there for the live sessions.

Does anyone know if all of the videos will be archived? It is unclear to me from reading the pricing descriptions. For those of us on the East Coast, the time difference can be challenging.

I tuned in a little bit but looks like the shot is not that close up to see the detail of the work. Am not sure how much one can learn from that. Am I missing something?

Last night was not a live lecture, it was a demo.

During the beta there are three cameras, wide, over head and upclose.

Plus it is slower and explained.

Thanks Chicago.

Audio was incredibly difficult last night. We switched out one video camera and one 50' SDI cable (that had been run along ceiling joists).

The part of town where the event happened has some large radio repeater towers nearby. The radio noise floor is terrible. Our original setup was picking up a local pop radio station (I heard Taylor Swift on the line during tests) and also included some data transmission noise.

I put in a 12-hour day. Phew!

However I want to point out that his Archival "Beech Forest Creation" is Flawed...
Do shimpaku junipers naturally grow in forest type settings?
Do azaleas grow up into tree shapes?
Do trident maples grow on boulders naturally?
Bonsai is a representation of trees growing in nature.

hahaha I kept hearing other stuff too! Hilarious. Well I am excited and ready to take part in such an exciting moment.

Was very curious but kinda looked like it was geared for bonsai artists not someone just getting their feet wet

You will learn a TON by listening. Keep a pad of paper by your PC and if something comes up that you don't understand write down a note and come here later and ask about it.

I'm all for a discussion on interpreting his forest set up. It could lead to a solid discussion on artistry and interpreting forest into Bonsai.

I found his rock planting interesting, big, dynamic, and powerful.

The link you provided of images was a great link, and reinforced your view of what a forest would look under your guidance.

It does make one consider if beech does grow in a multitude of environments, and where did Ryan find his inspiration or maybe he is creating something different with a purpose in mind.
