Acer P. Mame Broom?

Wait a minute, let me read that again.....

Okay, I think one of the objectives in bonsai is to have leaves in proportion to trunk size. Small leaves on a trunk that tiny is a good thing. Try to reduce them even more if you can.

Yes, I'm excited about the small leaves. It may have sounded like I wasn't, my bad. I'm thinking as I increase ramification, and maintain a small root mass, the leaves should get smaller.

It is spring, leaves start small. Keep in mind it has been repotted and that small leaves means lack of energy. In small size you live on the edge of weakening it to much all the time. When you can do small trees, big trees become easy. Do also keep in mind that a wide shallow container holds more water. I like the progress!

Personally I like maple to be a medium or large trees due to leaf size and how dense they can get. As you can see right now, all one can see is the trunk and a ball of leaves. Maybe this tree will look best after the leaves have fallen.

I think the larger trees look better as well, but I'm kinda going for a "cute" look with this one, lol. I think as ramification increases over time, this one will look a little more convincing.
