18 months of pot making and I’m improving.

View attachment 461945View attachment 461945I was very lucky to collaborate on the making of this pot with Tom Benda. He built this here in Spain with me watching and learning, I fired and glazed it. I am super happy that it will be on display as part of the EBPC. European Bonsai Potters collective Display at the Trophy exhibition in Genk Belgium next February. View attachment 461946
Oh my word!! That’s one of the most beautiful pots I’ve ever seen.

I like the more simplistic designs, remember...the pot shouldn't be stealing the show...otherwise it's not bonsai. It just a tree or shrub in an awesome pot. I suspect that is why the world's greatest bonsai specimens are not in very elaborate looking pots.

Not to take away from your pottery ability, which is pretty good. Learning to make pots myself due to demand in the area.

I think being able to have the freedom to create and express is what I am doing. My pots sell very well so some one is using them. I think if you look at the hand painted pots on porcelain and the bright coloured Shohin pots out there Thant command amazing amounts of money then the tree in a fancy pot argument does t stand up. However I love to see trees in calm beautiful pots and I hear what your saying. If all of us potters just made plain simple pots it would be a very shallow market. Ps. My pots are now available from Bonsai Mirai. Don’t shoot me 😀

I think the images are MIA due to the update last night. I'd love to see more of your work if you'd be kind enough to repost. Apologies if the issue is on my end and I don't realize!

Those pics from early June are beautiful!

That yellow round (IMG_2494) is really in line with my aesthetics. It's gorgeous. Specifically that lip/rim; interesting shape dynamics. One of my first concrete pot designs shares a similar rim, with some notable differences. That's fun to see.

Also a call out for the cream/earthen round with embossed accents (IMG_2430). Really love the finish combination with the shape. It's also provided me the opportunity to contemplate why I prefer the embossed accents vs debossed seen in IMG_2432.

All of these are very clean and an inspiration for someone like me who likes to dabble. Thank you for posting your hard work!
