After toying with the idea for years, and getting out of saltwater aquariums I finally decided to take the plunge! I'm already loving it and really enjoying taking care of them! So much easier than saltwater aquariums, and cheaper too. I can't wait to see what comes out of this in the years to come!

So far in my collection I have 5 Bougainvillea, 6 Portulacria afra, 5 Shimpaku juniper, 1 parsonii juniper, 1 Tangerine, 1 Sweetgum, 1 Sycamore, 1 Bald Cypress, 1 Montezuma Cypress, 1 Pond Cypress, 1 Chinese Elm, 2 Japanese Black Pines, 2 Fukien Tea trees, 3 Gmelina philippensis, 1 Mistletoe Fig, and 1 Ficus Microcarpa!

Now after typing all that I didn't realize I had so many plants for Bonsai. OOPS!

My bench I made for for them to hangout on Might need another one soon and I only built this one 2 weeks ago! There are some missing on the bench that are not pictured but they will eventually make their way over to it, once they have recouped from being repotted.

This 1 year newbie warmheartedly welcomes you. Lots to learn for sure. Looking forward to seeing your Bougainvilleas develop, a lovely species that would be too hard in my climate to maintain and keeping it happy.
In response to @Fidur, that looks "ouch !", smiles widely.

WOW!!! That is amazing! I'm not sure my wife will let me get that involved with it! LOL But it is definitely beautiful!

And thank you! I really appreciate the welcome!

The Bougainvilleas are beautiful right now. One is a Thai Delight and the other is an Orange Sunset(?) maybe? Not to sure on that one. I'm excited as well to see what they turn in to!

But here is a picture of my Thai Delight:

And the Orange one. The Camera doesn't really do it justice.

I'm sorry idk why they turned sideways.

It is funny you mention them! I've actually already google mapped it and they are about a 4 hour drive for me. I'm definitely going to have to make a trip down there one day!

Very beautiful leaves and the flowers are simply stunning (I prefer the pink one for its subtle color toning). But I also think they are pretty difficult to shape into a nice bonsai "look".
The foliage reminds me of Camellia sasanqua. I will be posting about it as soon as it starts flowering, expected around Xmas time. I potted up 3 of them and wired 2 of them as literati (following Terry Erasmus's YouTube posting
.
However they both perished, leaving me with one that I didnt dare to touch for this year, hoping that it would catch on and make flower buds, which it did (!). Pictures to follow in a month or so.
