Yamadori Spring Natives Contest **idea**

Crabapple suckers collected near a large crabapple tree at my folks house…a few have some interesting shape and most of them are leafing out! Not a contest entry but happy to see these doing well.

Tad bit disappointed this tree turned out to be buckthorn, but we’ll see how it goes…

So is someone actually going to try to build a contest, though?

-2 entries per person,
-must determine the species prior to entering.
-enter both by end of 2025
-contest over 5/15 of 2027, this is a good date so we can see some fresh spring foliage.
-everyone who enters one or more trees is allowed to participate in the final vote to determine top three best trees, prizes TBD,
-size restrictions = N/A
-only deciduous trees are allowed.
-must be native to the country you are from.
-at the end of the contest on 5/15/27 you have to vote for someone other than yourself!


If anyone has anything they care to add to this, I am open to suggestions!

The tree above is likely my first entry into this contest. Still trying to determine species…

-contest over 5/15 of 2027, this is a good date so we can see some fresh spring foliage.

That's a very short time frame. I usually wait that long before I start any bonsai training whatsoever in order to give the tree time to recover from collection.
