Where can I find this watering can?

Overall I like the Tierra Derco, it came today from Tierra Intl. in Jasper, Indiana.
I thought the handle would be uncomfortable but it has a nice smooth rounded
edge palm side, (its' down facing edge of the handle). The rose is ok. It's a huge improvement over the Haws.
It is much smaller than the 7L Haws, which helps, I would make it even smaller yet, but this is a 2.6 gallon can.
So far it navigates the soil line pretty well, not knocking bark or jins off with it yet :)
Did a video on it, but needs redoing really. I'm boring as heck and ran out of room on the card, so had to delete
a bunch of pictures...
Good can for the $ would like an even longer spout for harder to reach plants away from me when can it heavy.

Another great feature is how the spout does not protrude into the pail cavity. It is flush inside so you get about every drop out.
The rosette threads (female in the rose) onto the spout, and uses a rubber like O-ring to prevent leaks at the connection.

I bought it on your review but didn’t care much for it. Too large and heavy of a spray for my shohin sized trees. Well that was all rendered moot after a storm came through and knocked a flowerpot right into the rose. Cleanest kill I’ve seen in a while

Anyways, got this one instead.

$20 or so, all plastic which I hate but well enough Made. The water stream is incredible though. With the rose pointing down, you get a 6” radius coming down at 90 degrees - very useful for hard to reach pots. Flip it and you get a softer, wider stream. No idea of durability but so far it’s the best designed watering can I’ve handled.

That Layboo is half the size of the Tierra Derco. I think the options in the 3L range are much better
and more user friendly, just not enough volume for me personally.

The one the thread was started on is what I want and more user friendly than the TD.
The rose on it is precise, flips apart for quick cleaning. The cover with the holes
snaps onto the rose, but susceptible to UV rot.

BTW if I did not update my thread, my rose on the DT did the same, and the company replaced it
at no charge even though I got it through Amazon. You should contact them before you scrap
the can, and Amazon refunded my $ with no return, so a free can whether I enjoy using it or not
can’t beat free.

Hey @Japonicus Thought about you and this thread when I bought this can the other day. I own the layboo from Amazon like the one in the above post. It worked but the plastic felt like it would break down over time. This Dramm 5L water has that rubberized plastic feel that i don’t see breaking down. Great rose and it’s removable. $30 at my local garden center. Big fan so far from a trusted brand.488CD092-E3A9-4817-99CC-1FC2F298B4F1.jpeg

I will no doubt be trying a Dramm next time. I like the light weight of plastic, I like the long not so steep an angle of the spout.
The DT is ok, holds a great volume, but it's not equal to the blue one like Judy got on eBay in my 1st post.
That one is the difference of night and day when you need decent volume and accuracy. Dramm it will be next time.
BTW this TD brand never leaks just sitting around with water in it, but holding the spout and handle, I do get a couple drops
on my hand that's on the spout maybe 4" up from the can. Not sure if it's dribble from the rose or if the seam has a stress leak.
I'm leaning towards a seam leak, and I use Superthrive a growth hormone occasionally.
Thanks for sharing the pics. Love the made in USA deal. Kind of seals the deal ya know?

Correction...Walmart refunded my $ on the TD brand (drop shipped by Tierra Derco), the Haws I got through Amazon and will never get another.
Cant remember if I sent it back or put it out in the trash, just glad it's not on my property anymore. Should speak volumes for that size of Haws 1.8g.

Fair play. I live in an apartment with a balcony so i have to be careful where the water ends up. Thanks for sharing with us, watering cans are the most handled tool (hoses notwithstanding) but never get talked about. I might look at the Dramm once this craps out

You know, that's pretty good customer service from Hayneedle, then Tierra Derco sent a replacement rose.
Mine broke off in the exact same place, and can't remember anything ever bumping it. Maybe the storm door tapped it?
It fell apart when I picked the can up by the handle one day. LOL.
I'm sorry my post came across as a review and I never updated the issue. Cant afford the 2 gallon copper cans
Then if I did afford it, would possibly get stolen.

I've a couple of Haws cans but they're too small and the roses are terrible!

I actually use the hosepipe for most of my watering as it would take an age to do the lot with cans ☹

I have a couple of old copper ones, The rose of this one broke at the joint so I decided to resolder it, Had to clean the joint area with wire wool for the solder/flux to do it's job but then decided to polish the whole rose as it looked wrong, This led to polishing the whole can at this point the wife said- 'You can't use that for your trees as you'll spoil it'!!:confused:

John :)

I just remembered that I also have a couple of old copper Haws cans apart from the plastic ones!, I put them away to polish at a later date so that the wife doesn't nab them!!!

Can't remember if the larger one had a rose, Or a badge!, I've a feeling they were missing when I bought it 👍

Another one bites the dust. I've been limping along on this for a couple months now leaking up to a gallon overnight :(

Last week I bumped it and it fell a foot off of a stair, and the replacement rose also sheared off.
If the storm door nicked it on the way out the door, it would shear off.

So with the vote in the direction of the Dramm, several have praised it, I bought 2.

Love the longer reach, and the rose cover (perforations) snaps on and off for easy cleaning inside of the rose.
The shower is perfectly fine and not too harsh so it does not flood the soil away.

Those’re nice!

Try the roses the other way... that works nice too... “rain heads”.... (also increases the reach)

;)

I've tried it both ways. Brian says I have them upside down 😁🙃
Like this, it is easier to hoover over the soil underneath the foliage of pines
where I'm trying to not wet the foliage.

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. I use mine daily, twice a day when it is scorching. I am 100% hand watering at this point also. It sees abuse and intense UV exposure. It has shown zero signs of wear and tear.

I prefer this way.

I do not have a good set up for a garden hose.
+ my neighbor gives me a hard time about the size of garden hose I have, which is like a
bull in a china shop on my deck. Then I have to dig out 100' of 3/4" hose, purge it, turn it off
and put it away so not to kill the grass or get another aneurism from the Sun and need repair.

I like it, thanks for the recommendation :) Could use 2 more

4 cans 4 failures. 3 replacements, +2 failures.
These are scrapped except one I have leak repair tape on handle to back heat weld.

I keep these indoors over Winter
I keep them under my bench when not in use out of the Sun the rest of the year.
I don't bump into things with the spout nor handle by the spout.
3 have been replaced by Greenhousemegastore.com but now they wont uphold the lifetime warranty they advertise after replacing 3. Now, two replacements have also failed making 6 failures.
Either the heat bonded bottom leaks at the joint making a trailing drip through the house or leaking out overnight, or the spout breaks at the point where it is supported. There are actually radial cracks around the spout every 1/8th inch so it breaks at the support point. Also one cracked open a gaping crack where the bottom of the handle connects. 100% failures.

For the amount they charge you think they would last longer. I find 3 years is about it no matter how you protect them. First the rose cracks then the spout where it meets the body, then the handle. I Got extra roses but once the handle or spout cracks that's it. Bought a new one last year since my previous one was in really bad shape, handle broke off, and it came in with a crack in the bottom where the indentation is from the mold, it wasn't leaking so I kept it because I really need it.

I like the Dramm cans but keep them out of the elements or they'll disintegrate. I've never had the above failures but have had the handles come apart. Maybe one rose failed to but after a good bit of use. Hate using the plastic but otherwise it fits the bill.

Just sayin’…buy once, cry once.
@Brian Van Fleet - I hope you get a commission for the recommendation!

I’ve been struggling along with big box store craptastic watering cans. I like the metal ones I had, but they can’t take fertilizer.

Yup, I bit the bullet and ordered one.

Thanks for the recommendation - timely since I was just thinking about it today.
