My name irl is Joshua and I had a wonderful elderly Jewish librarian when I was in middle school who was a great mentor during some rough transitional times for me and she would always call me Yashu. I’ve used it for various forums (and as a DJ name in the 90’s when I lived in NM and wasted my youth doing that rave thing)

Many years ago I heard this guy, who I didn't even know, calling me "Mike Check". For some weird reason.

So it seemed like a good enough alias when I created my account here. I added the 123 subconsciously and without thinking.

A few years passed, and someone here asked me if I was a musician.

Wait what??? I've never posted about music here!!

But then it dawned on me--my username is just like when you're testing a microphone.

But I never even realized that when I created it!!!

Now I'm wondering if that dude from so long ago was also talking about a "mic check" and not "Mike Check." LOL

I do think it's interesting that my subconscious mind seemed to catch on to it by adding the 123. Probably because it had a certain familiar ring to it.
