Whats one of your hidden talents?

I used to be an international fencing referee. Still certified as one actually, but I don't do it anymore. I was the referee for a (possibly two, I'd have to check the results) US national championship gold medal bout and the 2023 NCAA fencing championship. Went to France, Germany, Romania, Austria, Bulgaria and Costa Rica for it. If I had stuck with it, I probably would have been a ref at the 2028 LA Olympics. It took an absurd amount of vacation time from my normal job. I'd rather stay at home with my wife, my cat, and my bonsai. Having normal vacations are nice

You are VERY talented.
Thank you very much Carol!

Do you do any commissioned work?
I most definitely do. 80% of the portraits I make are commissions. My website lists all the details about that as well.

Not trying to plug my business, of course!

You are extremely talented sir !!!! Do you draw bonsai too?

I play classical piano: Bach, Beethoven, Schumann, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev and many lesser-known composers. I also recently started teaching a bright 10 year old girl; that's great and different fun.
I've worked as an architect, contractor, project manager and carpenter. The people who knew me as a carpenter could never believe that I played piano---and I still have all 10 fingers!

I am quite talented with Fermi problems (approximating orders of magnitude). I was advising a group of high school student for a science olympiad when I realized that all of the useless stuff I've passively memorized for work was very useful for these... useless and obscure questions. Ha.

I'm a closet artist as well though not anywhere near the level of @RODERLO
Those drawings are amazing!

I enjoy fishing. I can run a boat. Had a captain's license for 15 years until I decided I didn't want to deal with hiring out and it just became a hassle to renew.

I can build a computer, and have built several over the years.

I supposedly have a remarkable talent for online searches on Google. My co-workers have told me they are amazed at my ability to find needed information. IDK 🤷‍♀️ doesn't seem all that hard.

I am a jack of all trades. I can do most anything I try to a decent level but never excellent.
No hidden talent really. Perhaps I can consider the fact that, when I really calm myself, I can pet a lot of wild animals and birds (deer, rabbits, squirrels, birds, etc.). When I am dead calm, they will let me approach and touch them without running away. I was even able to do that to some redfish in the lake!
That’s definitely a hidden gift!
I, too, am a jack of all trades and master at none… But… I am apparently unbeatable at the game “clue“, and I was always picked as the last in line on my team in the drinking game “anchorman“ when I was in college😬
Anchor man in college drinking games is still a talent 🍻
My hidden talent is fainting at the sight of injection needles on syringes.
I can dissect humans, frogs, all sorts of animals. I can work with blood. I can stitch wounds with non-hollow needles. I can do tattoos. I can do liquid fungi cultures with blunt needled syringes, or refilling printer ink. But sharp injection needles? Man down!
No one says the hidden talents have to be useful

I guess that explains your “google it” responses from time to time

I'm halfway decent at riding bikes for a long time over long distances.

I figured this out when I was like 12 or 13 years old. I did one of those ride for cancer fund raiser things where you have like 12 hours to ride as far as you can and people pledge per mile. I rode 80 miles. People couldn't pay me what they pledged so I was short on funds. My school thought I stole money and I got in trouble.

Anyways, almost 30 years later I got back into riding bikes pretty seriously and started tracking my rides a year ago. I'm right around 7000 miles since then. Longest ride was 330+ miles in 30 hours.

This is my main bike

Thank you!
My profile pic is a digital sketch I made as a design for one of my bonsai.
But I haven’t drawn bonsai with an artistic intention yet. I am definitely considering adding a bonsai into a portrait if I am able to make it fit the theme. Perhaps something Japanese..?

Interesting single chain ring/cassette combo. Guessing your terrain is hilly? What does that bike weigh?

My hidden talent is drumming, though it’s tough to “hide” something that noisy.

I am skilled in Chess. I took down this International Master (IM) level player not long ago:

Very cool! I am not skilled but it’s enjoyable, specially the chess app. I hover in between 1000-1100 usually can’t get past without more studying and practice.
